The Ye Wanshan in Where Winds Meet fight is one of the major turning points in the Sundara Land storyline, and the battle plays out very differently compared to the usual Qinghe bosses. Wanshan’s mix of horseback speed, heavy red-glow slams, and fiery second-phase upgrades make him overwhelming at first, but his attacks are cleanly telegraphed.
That said, here is how you track and beat Ye Wanshan in Where Winds Meet.
Where to find Ye Wanshan in Where Winds Meet
Ye Wanshan appears as a Campaign Boss tied to the Bodhi Sea questline. Bodhi Sea sits in the far north of Qinghe, inside Sundara Land, wrapped in thick mist. You’ll unlock his boss version by progressing through the Bodhi Sea campaign itself.
Once that part is complete, Wanshan can be fought as many times as you want in the Sundara Land arena.
How to beat Ye Wanshan in Where Winds Meet

- Red attacks can be deflected
- Yellow attacks can be dodge only
His red glow attacks always have a slight delay. If you parry too early, you’ll take full damage, so wait for the strike to actually land before tapping your deflect.
Yellow attacks (especially the huge slam that comes after he throws his glaive) cannot be blocked at all. Keep distance, roll through the shockwave, and wait for his recovery window.
Once he enters phase two:
- His weapons ignite
- His horse picks up even more speed
- Older moves get extended
- Several new red-glow and charge attacks get added
The fire effects can make it harder to read his animations, but the patterns remain familiar. His big aerial red slam works just like his earlier red attacks, so deflect a moment after the flash. The mounted red charge attack also has a predictable wind-up; parry at the moment he swings, not at the moment he starts rushing.
If you’re confident with deflections, you can shred his Qi bar quickly even in the fire phase.
Use Cloud Steps to interrupt his charge
Wanshan has a dangerous mid-range charge that can be shut down cleanly with Cloud Steps (Mystic Arts). When timed correctly, you’ll leap straight onto him, cancel the charge, and gain a free punish window.
Just be careful not to activate Cloud Steps from too far away, because the flaming sword still clips you if it reaches you first.
Don’t chase him and make him come to you
Horse jumps with fire glow, and Wanshan throws his glaive, make sure to dodge only (Image via Sportskeeda Gaming || NetEase Games)Ye Wanshan moves constantly on horseback, and trying to run after him wastes stamina and positioning. Stay grounded, hold your spot, and:
- Wait for his sweep attacks so you can parry
- Punish whenever he finishes a mounted rush
- Use your ranged tools (Panacea Fan, Inkwell Fan, Vernal Umbrella, Soulshade Umbrella) when he takes long routes around the arena
This lets you control the tempo instead of being dragged around. Once he falls, the Bodhi Sea’s malign aura clears, letting you see the swamp properly. Before leaving, enter the newly opened tower to finish the quest. This gives you:
A new Lightness Mystic Skill and Ye Wanshan’s dagger, which can be gifted to one of his followers if you manage to find them later.
