The Bastion is a heavily armored ARC enemy and is very difficult to defeat from the front. This is why you need to attack it from behind; specifically, you must target the Bastion's small yellow rear plate. This will be visible when the ARC machine turns around.

It's recommended that you use weapons that utilize Medium to Heavy ammo and attempt to obliterate the yellow rear plate. You may also target the Bastion's kneecaps to affect its overall mobility.
