Wait ... did The Sporting News just get back into print?
Yes. In our 140th year, we’re back on newsstands.
And we’re doing it the right way, with a full College Football Preview built for the 2026 season. Analysis, insights and storylines in a slick, printed product.
We haven’t printed a magazine since 2012, and our last preview publication was a decade ago. In that time, we’ve grown into a global digital brand, reaching fans across 15 editions worldwide. But great storytelling deserves multiple platforms, and that includes a return to our print heritage. (In addition to the College Football Preview, we also have a 2026 NFL Preview, with additional special issues to come.)
In the College Football Preview, you’ll find every FBS team and the top FCS schools covered. You’ll find out why we think Indiana won’t be going away, as well as which schools have the best chance to knock the Hoosiers from the top of the mountain.
Indiana’s turnaround under Curt Cignetti, from Big Ten doormat to national champion, has been one of the most remarkable sports storylines in recent memory. That accomplishment even pushed its way into our list of the 140 greatest moments in sports, which we published online earlier this year to mark our anniversary.
But this is a new season, and now comes the question: Who’s next? Every season brings a new contender, and there likely will be a surprise or two that lands in the 12-team playoff.
Our College Football 2026 Preview issue is your guide to all of it.
You can find it your local supermarket or retailers such as Walmart, Target, Walgreens, CVS, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million and more.
Or, you can order online at the McClatchy Media Magazine Shop.
And there's much more to come as we get closer to the start of the season. Be sure to check back online later this summer — we'll have additional content looking at the best all-time college football moments, players and teams as we continue to celebrate our 140th anniversary.
