The New England Patriots, through the first four weeks of the NFL season, have a 2-2 record. But it feels a lot worse than that, as Drake Maye has not looked like the MVP-caliber quarterback he was a year ago, and the team has a lot of issues at the moment.
A.J. Brown is still hurt, the Patriots are without a starting offensive lineman for the season, and the running back production has, once again, been incredibly underwhelming. Against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 5, something needs to change for the better.
One way they can do that is by ending the active streak that ESPN Research highlighted. The Patriots have had multiple turnovers in five straight games dating back to the Super Bowl. If they can turn the ball over just one time, this brutal NFL streak will end.
Patriots can end active turnover streak in Week 5 vs. Raiders
"The Patriots have had multiple turnovers in five straight games (including the playoffs), which is the longest active streak in the NFL," ESPN Research shared.
Heading into this Week 5 matchup against the Raiders, a surprising 3-1 team on the season that's played much better defense than anticipated, one of the Patriots' top goals should be to end this streak.
The Raiders defense this season has forced four interceptions in four weeks this season, and they've also recovered five fumbles on 13 opportunities on the year as well.
Maye and the Patriots are facing a tough defense in Week 5, one that could easily extend this streak for New England to six consecutive games dating back to the Super Bowl with at least two turnovers.

So far this season, Maye has seven interceptions. It's a very worrying number for the Patriots, especially since he had just eight all of the 2025 season.
To make matters worse, it's not just the interceptions that are burning the Patriots this season. The Patriots, on seven total fumbles, have lost three of them, for 10 turnovers in the first four weeks.
It's been a rough start to the season for the Patriots offense, and facing a Raiders defense that's been forcing turnovers this season, New England could be in a bit of trouble.
Maye and the Patriots need to protect the ball. Not only to secure the win, but also to finally snap this brutal streak that's gone on for far too long.
