Nelly Korda did not have a great run on the opening day of the ShopRite LPGA Classic. She scored an even par. However, the second round worked out better and more in her favour. Nelly Korda carded a round of 5-under.
The World No. 1 started the round rather slowly with two consecutive even pars. She registered a birdie on the third hole, and things started getting better. After three birdies on the front nine, she was down with a score of 3-under.
But Nelly Korda managed to catch up with the momentum on the back nine. Although she started with two even pars and a bogey, she went on to card three more birdies on the back nine. That brought her score to an impressive 5-under.

How did Nelly Korda perform in the first round of the ShopRite LPGA Classic?
Nelly Korda’s opening round began with a par on the first hole but was followed by a bogey on the second. She responded with birdies on the third and fifth holes. A bogey on the seventh hole resulted in her reaching the turn at 1-over 37. On the back nine, Korda made bogeys on the 10th and 13th holes but finished strongly with birdies on the 15th and 18th, completing the round at even par.
This marks Korda’s first participation in the ShopRite LPGA Classic since 2020, when she finished solo fifth with a total score of 12-under par.
In the current season, Korda has competed in eight tournaments without securing a victory. She began the year with a second-place finish at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, posting 18-under par. This was followed by a tie for seventh at the Founders Cup with a score of 12-under par and a tie for 22nd at the Ford Championship, finishing at 14-under par.
Notably, Korda registered a historic feat recently when she became just the sixth player in the history of the LPGA to spend 100 weeks at world No. 1.
