The Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs went head-to-head in an NBA Cup clash at the Frost Bank Center on Friday. The Rockets entered the game seeking their sixth consecutive win, while the Spurs sought a solid performance to break their two-game losing streak.

In terms of the starting lineups, both teams stuck with the same starters. Houston started with Kevin Durant, Alperen Sengun, Amen Thompson, Josh Okogie and Jabari Smith Jr. San Antonio was led by Victor Wembanyama, with Julian Champagnie, Harrison Barnes, Stephon Castle and Devin Vassell rounding off the starters.

The Rockets jumped to a 14-9 start after six minutes of action, with every starter making at least one shot. Okogie led the team with five quick points, including knocking down a 3-pointer.

Harrison Barnes caught fire from deep and knocked down three 3-pointers, which propelled the Spurs to a 21-16 lead with a 12-2 run. The Rockets responded with a 9-2 run to close the quarter and took a 25-23 lead into the second period. Tari Eason scored five points and provided the offensive spark to Houston off the bench.
