Hornets trade for guard who once had 17 assists in a single game

The Hornets have been one of the hottest teams in the NBA recently.

They are currently just outside play-in positioning in the East, but they have strung together several wins in the past few weeks, which has them on the verge of breaking into the top-10 and potentially even further.

They clearly want to win games despite having a rough start to the season, and the trades they've made at the trade deadline this year reflect that.

ESPN's Shams Charania reported that the Magic have traded guard Tyus Jones and second-round draft picks to the Hornets for cash considerations.

This isn't a huge trade by any means, but it gives the Hornets a solid guard off the bench, if they keep him, albeit a player who plays towards the bottom of the rotation.

29-year-old Jones only averaged 15.7 minutes with the Magic this season, but played in 48 games.

Jones was one of the best playmakers in the league a few seasons ago, averaging a career high 7.3 assists with the Wizards in the 2023-24 season.

He's known for being a quality playmaker and ball handler who doesn't turn the ball over often.

Jones has a career high of 17 assists, and on another occasion, he had 7 steals in one game.
