The majority of the hype surrounding the matchup between the Charlotte Hornets and Dallas Mavericks has involved rookie standouts Kon Knueppel and Cooper Flagg.

The former Duke teammates play against each other for the first time in their short careers.

However, Hornets superstar LaMelo Ball made his name loud and proud on Thursday night, joining an impressive list of NBA legends in the matchup.

LaMelo Ball becomes fifth player in history to record impressive milestone

Although LaMelo Ball hasn't had the most ideal season so far, the 24-year-old made history in the first half of the matchup between the Hornets and Mavericks.

Ball became the fifth player in NBA history to record 5,000 points, 1,500 rebounds, and 2,000 assists in his first 300 games of his career. That catch is that he did it in just 270 games.

The Hornets star joins a list of players including Magic Johnson, Walt Frazier, Oscar Robertson, and Luka Doncic.

Melo is the 5th player in NBA history to record:

So far this season, Ball is still trying to get things going after suffering numerous injuries throughout the past few seasons.

From coming off the bench for the first time since his rookie season to continuing to miss games in short stints, he is averaging 19.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 7.6 assists per game while shooting 40.6 percent from the field and 36.3 percent from three.

Charlotte has used him in a limited fashion in hopes that he can get back to playing on a more consistent basis. He's on pace to average the fewest minutes per game (27.2) in his six-year career.
