Charlotte Hornets guard Kon Knueppel broke new ground on Monday night, becoming the fastest player to hit 100 3-pointers in NBA history.
Knueppel hit a three late in the first quarter against the Cleveland Cavaliers to break the record. He passes the previous record-holder (Lauri Markkannen in 2017-18) by 12 games.
Knueppel is averaging 19.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists through 28 games. He's shooting 47.3% from the field, 40.9% from deep and 91.5% from the free throw line. He's fourth in the NBA in three-point percentage among players who've hit at least 75 threes.
Knueppel is the only rookie to hit 60+ shots from deep this season. He's also one of seven players averaging 15+ points and 3+ 3-pointers per game while shooting at least 40% from deep.
He was drafted 4th overall by Charlotte in the 2025 NBA Draft. He immediately cemented himself as a key part of the Hornets, as he's started 28 of the team's 29 games this season. He's second on the team in scoring behind Miles Bridges.
Knueppel is part of a tight race for NBA Rookie of the Year, along with former Duke teammate Cooper Flagg (Dallas Mavericks), Cedric Coward (Memphis Grizzlies) and V.J. Edgecombe (Philadelphia 76ers).
He was part of a four-man draft class for the Hornets, which also included Liam McNeeley, Ryan Kalkbrenner and Sion James. Knueppel led Charlotte to an NBA Summer League title last summer, where he won the tournament's MVP award.
Knueppel and the Hornets return to action Tuesday night against the Washington Wizards.
