On Tuesday, December 22, Mito Pereira announced a shocking retirement from professional golf. The decision came just a couple of months after he was relegated from LIV Golf due to poor form.
Reacting to Pereira's retirement, Mickelson posted a few words of appreciation for the former LIV Golf star.
"I've seen Mito’s incredible talent first hand. I wish him success and happiness," he wrote. "I also hope his passion comes back to him and he fulfills his potential."@NUCLRGOLF I’ve seen Mito’s incredible talent first hand. I wish him success and happiness. I also hope his passion comes back to him and he fulfills his potential.
Earlier, the 30-year-old Chilean golfer shared a post on social media announcing his retirement. He said the decision came after a period of reflection and that he had been thoughtfully considering it for some time.
"After many years connected to this beautiful sport, priorities naturally evolve," he added. "Today, my main desire is to step away from constant travel, return to Chile, and focus on my personal life. Golf played a fundamental role in my life. It allowed me to grow both personally and professionally, to meet incredible people, experience different cultures, and set goals-most of which I was fortunate enough to achieve-taking steps I never imagined possible." "I now begin a new chapter feeling happy, motivated, and at peace, without urgency about what the future may bring. I simply want you to know that I am well and proud of what I accomplished in this sport."The three-time Korn Ferry Tour winner thanked all three ex-Tours for memories and also reflected on representing his nation at the Olympics.
