Heat provide injury update on Bam Adebayo

The Miami Heat will now hold their breath as they await results on Bam Adebayo, who left early in the Heat’s 122-112 loss to the Denver Nuggets with an apparent foot injury.

Adebayo appeared to twist his foot, or land awkwardly on it during the 1st quarter. Adebayo was bringing the ball up the court, then turned to pass it to Norman Powell when he then came up limping. Adebayo would later be removed and wouldn’t return. He finished with two points and one rebound in eight minutes of action.

After the game, the Heat provided a comment from Adebayo on his status.

“I felt a pain in my foot so I took it upon myself to check myself out and go see what happened,” Adebayo said. “We’ll figure it out. We’ll get more tests tomorrow and see how it goes.”

The Heat are already dealing with an injury to Tyler Herro that has kept him out to start the season, so losing Adebayo would be devastating for Miami. He had gotten off to a solid start to the season, averaging 22.4 points, 9.1 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game entering Wednesday’s contest.

An injury that keeps Adebayo out long-term would likely mean more minutes for Kel’el Ware, and Keshad Johnson.
