The Bloodmoon Whale is only available to catch during the Bloodmoon Admin Event. Since the activation of Admin Events is overseen by the game’s creators, predicting when it occurs can be a little challenging. Once the Bloodmoon Event starts, head to Mount Hallow by sea or by using the Halloween Event teleport prompt on Fisherman Island. Search the waters around the Mount and start fishing to see if you can hook the Bloodmoon Whale.

Even the best gear in the game has a slim chance of getting the Bloodmoon Whale. After all, the maximum Luck boosts don’t exceed 1,600% for most fishing rod and bobber combinations. That said, maximizing the Luck boosts you can get through every possible source always helps in improving your odds.

The best rod in the game as of the Bloodmoon Event is the Element Rod. It offers a massive Luck boost of 1,111%, and a Speed stat of 130%. This rod is a reward for completing the associated quest, which can be a lengthy endeavor on its own. Even so, the rod is well worth the effort, and it will remain one of the most useful rods in the future.

Combine this rod with the Singularity Bait, available for 8.2 million Coins from the Traveling Merchant. It has a Luck boost of 380%, which adds to the Element Rod’s high multiplier.
