Heat could sign $124M injury-prone two-time All-Star, defensive menace seeking career revival

Victor Oladipo is looking to make his way back to the NBA after a series of unfortunate injuries that have kept him out of the league for quite some time. The guard is hoping to join a team and prove that he still has what it takes to contribute at the highest level.

Recently, Oladipo opened up about his mindset and why he wants to return to the NBA. The former Most Improved Player believes he can still contribute at a high level.

“I believe my body is finally right," Oladipo wrote. "I believe I still have GREAT (and more importantly WINNING) basketball in front of me. I believe I can be a valuable contributor to an NBA locker room. And what I'm asking for right now is an opportunity to prove it."

Oladipo suffered a serious injury in 2023 while playing for the Miami Heat. However, he believes the setback ultimately helped him change his approach.

“Then in 2023, with Miami, I tore my patellar tendon. And to be honest, I actually think that injury was a blessing in disguise. Because from the moment my injuries first started, it’s like I’d been on this chase…and who I was so close to becoming as a player in the league. And it’s like ever since then...I’d just been trying so hard to get BACK there, you know?? So hard that I think I was rushing the process, and trying to make up for lost time. But my patella injury changed all that,” Oladipo wrote.

Some good news for Oladipo is that Miami has allowed him to work out at its facility, while the organization continues to monitor his progress.

“Has been working out at Kaseya Center. And, yes, Heat have monitored,” Sun Sentinel’s Ira Winderman wrote.

With the Heat allowing him to work out at the Kaseya Center and keeping an eye on him, Miami could potentially be considering a reunion. Whether it comes in the form of an Exhibit 10 deal, two-way contract or standard NBA contract, Oladipo is simply looking for an opportunity to prove that he can still play.

Oladipo has made $124 million throughout his career. Now, he is looking for an opportunity from any team around the league to showcase what he still has left in the tank. With Miami continuing to monitor him, the Heat could be one of the more interesting teams to watch as Oladipo searches for his next opportunity.
