CM Punk opened up about working with Bray Wyatt
CM Punk and Bray Wyatt worked together during their time in the New Nexus. The group also included Curtis Axel, David Otunga, and others.
Speaking on WWE Break it Down, Punk recalled being upset with Wyatt being sent back down to NXT. He revealed that Wyatt was determined to headline a WrestleMania with Punk:
"What’s funny about this is, shortly after the formation of this, we broke up. I remember a conversation. I was upset for Bray because he was being sent back down to developmental. He was in high spirits, and he said to me, 'Hey, don’t worry, man. I’m gonna go back down there, I’m gonna figure myself out, and I’m gonna come back up here and someday me and you, we’re gonna main event WrestleMania.' And I thought that was really cool."In August 2023, Wyatt passed away at the age of 36. His final match in the WWE was against LA Knight. After beating The Megastar, he started a storyline with Bobby Lashley and declared that he would face the winner of Lashley vs. Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 39.
