AEW star Chris Jericho hasn't been seen in the company for over eight months. He is rumored to sign with WWE after his current deal with All Elite Wrestling ends in December 2025. A previous report claimed that he would seek a retirement tour and a WWE Hall of Fame induction if he returned to the global sports entertainment juggernaut.

The Demo God had been one of AEW's biggest names before its launch. He was the first AEW World Champion. He elevated younger and promising stars and slowly stepped back.

While speaking on the Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Hardy claimed that Chris Jericho did everything he could in the first five years of AEW.

"I almost think it's one of those things where I just think the AEW fanbase has had their share of Chris Jericho in many ways, and I think creatively he's done pretty much everything he can do there. I mean, unless they want to put him back into the main event mix, but I don't think the fanbase would be up for that, even though they could probably make that work in some capacity," he said. Matt Hardy believes WWE could book a retirement tour for Chris Jericho

John Cena retired a couple of weeks ago. Before hanging up his boots, he was on the road with WWE for the majority of 2025 for his retirement tour.

While speaking on the same edition of Extreme Life, Matt Hardy said WWE could retire Chris Jericho with a retirement tour later in his career.

"I feel like there would be a good run he could do, even if it is his last run and he retires at the end of it, like Cena did. But I think they would honor him and do right by him. And I think it'd be a big deal for WWE, especially in the immediate future," he said.

It will be interesting to see where fans see Le Champion wrestle in 2026.
