Jake Elliott's struggles continue as the Philadelphia Eagles seek to seal the NFC East title against the Washington Commanders. The Eagles are 10-7 behind at halftime, but the kicker could have placed the team ahead with two field goal opportunities, both of which he missed.

Elliott had the first field goal while the Eagles were leading the game 7-3. Following a drive of 11 plays, he attempted the kick from 43 yards but failed to make it. The Commanders' offense entered the field for their next drive and got a rushing touchdown after nine plays.

The missed field goal was already keeping the Eagles behind when their offense came in for the next drive and Jake Elliott had the opportunity to redeem himself. After 10 plays, they opted for a field goal again from 52 yards, but the veteran kicker failed to convert that too.

Failing to convert the two field goal opportunities further worsens Elliott’s struggle in recent games. The kicker missed a field goal in every of the three straight losses the Eagles recorded before the 31-0 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. He also missed an extra point in one.

Jake Elliott places the Eagles in a difficult situation as they look to seal the NFC East title with his field goal misses. This hasn't gone well with a lot of fans, with many sending out strong criticism of the veteran kicker. Here's a look at some of the reactions online:

Jake Elliott needs to retire smh

WTF?!? He missed that?! Jake Elliott is a liability right now, it’s time to send him packing.

count your days Jake Elliott

Why is Jake Elliott still on the @Eagles? Is there nobody else in the free world that can kick a field goal?

Jake Elliott won't allow departed players take the blame for his struggles

Amid Jake Elliott’s struggles, fans and analysts quickly connected the dots. Many are pointing fingers at long-snapper Cal Adomitis, who was recently released by the Eagles, for the botched kicks and resulting losses.

They noted that under Charley Hughlett’s snaps earlier in the season, the Eagles went 4-0 and Elliott drilled all four of his attempts. Elliott, however, refused to let Adomitis shoulder the blame for his own misses. The kicker is taking responsibility for his struggles.

“I don't know that you can necessarily make that correlation," Elliott said via The Athletic's Zach Berman. "Really, Charley was hurt, Cal came in. Charley's healthy, I'm excited to have him. Back.”

Proving it had nothing to do with Adomitis, Jake Elliott’s two field goal misses in the first half against the Commanders have both been snapped by Hughlett. The Eagles will be hoping the kicker gets back to his best ahead of the postseason, as they look to retain the Super Bowl.
