Bill Belichick's collegiate debut has concluded in disaster, and at least one person has nothing but ridicule for how it went.
For 2025, after 24 years in the NFL, the former New England Patriots head coach joined the University of North Carolina Tar Heels. He brought with him a staff full of NFL veterans, including his sons Stephen and Brian, and touted the program as "the 33rd NFL team" alongside general manager Mike Lombardi.
There were plenty of expectations for him, but disappointment and controversy ensued. The Tar Heels opened his tenure with a 48-14 destruction at home against TCU and ultimately finished 4-8, failing to make a bowl game since 2018. Throughout the season, controversy also abounded regarding his relationship with Jordon Hudson and her involvement in UNC athletics.

And on Friday, six days after a 41-29 shellacking at in-state rival NC State in its final game that marked the last of three straight losses to end the year, Belichick fired two assistants: offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens and special teams coordinator Mike Priefer. In the wake of that news, veteran sportscaster Jason Whitlock posted this:

Bill Parcells makes case for Bill Belichick, Robert Kraft entering Hall of Fame
Back to the NFL, Bill Belichick and Patriots owner Robert Kraft were announced as finalists for the Hall of Fame earlier this month. One person who knows both of them well is Bill Parcells, who worked under both of them at various points, and he was blunt about their worthiness when speaking to Massachusetts Live:
“You can’t dispute what they’ve accomplished. When you’ve accomplished more than anybody else, it would be pretty ludicrous if it didn’t result in them getting in there.”He continued:
“I think it’ll be alright eventually.”The Hall of Fame committee will reconvene in February to announce the 2026 class of inductees. Kraft and Belichick each need at least 80% of the vote to be included.
