Cody Bellinger, once a cornerstone of the Los Angeles Dodgers, spent his first six big-league seasons in Los Angeles, earning NL Rookie of the Year honors in 2017 and the NL MVP award in 2019. His production fell off noticeably over the final two seasons with the Dodgers, which preceded his exit after 2022.

Since leaving L.A., Bellinger has rebuilt his stock, he hit .272 with 29 homers and 98 RBIs in 2025, then opted out of his contract with the New York Yankees to test free agency again.

A recent Dodgers Nation poll asked fans if they would support a Bellinger reunion. Of the more than 5,600 votes, about 58% were in favor but the comment section told a different story. Many fans were quick to voice their opposition to the idea of bringing him back.

"Dodgers fans who? I’m a Dodgers fan, but I don’t want Cody Bellinger back," a fan said. "He’s too inconsistent," one fan commented. "No on Bellinger. He clearly has a problem hitting while wearing a Dodgers uniform. Pages and Freeman can handle the duties just fine," another fan wrote. "Wasn’t he batting .197 when he left? Do we really need that back?" one fan tweeted. "I’d need a random cat to s**t in my mouth every other night in order to stomach Bellinger back," another fan said.

Bellinger fits Dodgers’ LF need but reunion seen as unlikely

Fresh off a second straight World Series title, the Dodgers enter free agency with one obvious lineup question: left field. With Michael Conforto now a free agent after a down year in left field, the Dodgers are expected to explore several options to bolster their outfield.

A reunion between Bellinger and Los Angeles appears unlikely. The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya wrote that it would "register as a surprise to see a reunion there," suggesting the organization may look elsewhere to fill the opening created by Michael Conforto’s free agency. Conforto, who played 138 games in 2025, finished with a .638 OPS, the lowest mark of his career.

Free agency officially opened on Nov. 7 which gives the Dodgers the green light to start exploring options to fill their vacancy in left field. With the market now active, Los Angeles is expected to evaluate multiple possibilities in the coming days before deciding whether Cody Bellinger or another available bat best fits their plans for the 2026 season.
