The Tennessee Titans have had a season to forget as the team stands with a 2-12 record after 14 weeks. The Titans have had a managerial change during their disastrous season, as they have been led by interim coach Mike McCoy since Brian Callahan's firing in October.

With the regular season nearing its conclusion, Tennessee is expected to hasten the process of hiring its next head coach. However, when Titans rookie Cam Ward was asked about Tennessee's next coach, Ward said he'd like to meet all the candidates.

Ward's comments have turned a few heads, including Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe. The former NFL tight end slammed the Titans rookie for his comments on the "Nightcap" podcast.

"He ain't got enough skin the game," Sharpe said on Ward being involved in the coaching decision.

Sharpe named legendary NFL quarterbacks who should have had a say in the front office's dealings:

"Those kinds of decisions, those are afforded for a Peyton Manning, a Tom Brady, a Patrick Mahomes, a John Elway or a Dan Marino."

Titans front office aware of Cam Ward's desire to be involved in coaching recruitment

Cam Ward was selected with the first pick in this year's NFL draft and while the 23-year-old quarterback has divided opinions with his performances, he wants to ensure the team has the right coach ahead of next season.

“No matter who we try to hire, cuz I know the end of day, who we do hire is gonna be the right fit for us, whether it's a defensive person or an offensive person," Ward said. "They're going to make sure that every person in the right place and make sure that every person set up for success.

The Titans rookie admitted that he has had conversations with the front office about his desire to be involved in the hiring process.

“Yeah, I've had conversations with them about how I wanna be involved. They know how much I wanna be involved,” Ward said. “Not even with the scheme part of it. As the head coach, who he is every day, on an everyday basis, and then just then we'll get into the scheme, what I'm good at, what I want to do.”

The rookie quarterback has recorded 2,638 passing yards, throwing 11 touchdowns and seven interceptions in 14 games for the Titans this season.
