Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur broke down after their Women's 2025 World Cup semifinal victory over Australia at the D.Y Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Thursday, October 30. The veteran cricketer, who was in the dugout, could barely control her emotions after the hosts outgunned the defending champions in convincing fashion.
With a daunting 339 runs to chase down in 50 overs, Shafali Verma perished for only 10 in the second over. After Smriti Mandhana departed for 24, Jemimah Rodrigues and Harmanpreet (89) joined hands to stitch a match-defining 167-run partnership. Amanjot Kaur hit the winning boundary as the hosts won by five wickets, while Deepti Sharma (24 of 17) and Richa Ghosh (26 of 16) also made crucial contributions. Rodrigues stayed unbeaten on 127 and deservedly won the Player of the Match award.
