The Vancouver Canucks pulled out a gutsy 4-3 win via the shootout on Thursday night against the St. Louis Blues. The Canucks had the game-winner disallowed for goalie interference late in the third period, leading to overtime and shootout.
Kiefer Sherwood had a whale of a game, notching a hat trick for the Vancouver Canucks. Meanwhile, Dylan Holloway, Jimmy Snuggerud (PPG), and Pius Suter (PPG) replied for the Blues. Jake DeBrusk got the game-winner in the shootout, beating Jordan Binnington with a hard top to the top right corner.
So, here’s a look at the three most impressive Vancouver Canucks players from their shootout win over the St. Louis Blues.

#3 Jake DeBrusk
Jake DeBrusk played a solid game for the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday night. DeBrusk led the Canucks forwards in ice time, playing just a shade under 23 minutes. He didn’t have a shot on goal during regulation.
But it was his timely goal in the shootout that elevated Vancouver.
Here’s a look at the goal:
DeBrusk came through when the Canucks needed him the most. That’s why he earned a nod on Thursday night.
#2 Kevin Lankinen
Kevin Lankinen had one heck of a game against the St. Louis Blues. He faced 39 shots on the night, stopping 36. He allowed two power play goals, but then again, Lankinen can’t be blamed for the shoddy defense in front of him.
Lankinen was solid in the third period and in overtime. Most importantly, he stopped all three shots he faced in the shootout. Of course, he did get some help from Brayden Schenn, who bobbled the puck before he could even get a shot away.
The performance was encouraging for Lankinen, as he hasn’t had as good a season as he did last year. A solid Lankinen will be crucial on nights when Thatcher Demko is not on the ice.
#1 Kiefer Sherwood
Kiefer Sherwood continues to play out of his mind for the Vancouver Canucks. Sherwood notched a hat trick to raise his goal count to six on the season. The 30-year-old has now scored five goals in his last three games and looks to have solidified his spot in Vancouver’s top six.
Here’s a look at Sherwood’s third of the night:
Sherwood’s performance was critical after Brock Boeser left the game during his first shift of the night. If Boeser is out for any substantial time, Sherwood will become an indispensable part of the team’s forward group.
The Canucks will be back on the ice on Saturday night as they visit the Minnesota Wild at the Xcel Energy Center.
