The International Cricket Council (ICC) have doled out the sanctions for the numerous instances of guideline breaches over the course of the controversial 2025 Asia Cup campaign in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf has copped the most severe reprimand out of all, as he now faces a two-match suspension, while India skipper Suryakumar Yadav has also been handed a demerit point.

All three matches between India and Pakistan, played amid a tense backdrop, featured contentious actions by players on and off the field. Post-match comments, and gestures were a recurring theme, as the Men in Blue emerged victorious across all three matches to defend their Asia Cup title, and win the trophy for a record-extending ninth time in history.

Haris Rauf was found guilty for his controversial conduct and gestures during the group stage contest, and the final. For the former, he was fined 30 percent of his match fees, and handed two demerit points. He was awarded the same punishment for his actions in the final as well.

The pacer now has two suspension points as well since he accumulated four demerit points in the 24-month period. As a result, he will not be eligible to feature in the first two ODIs against South Africa. The bowler is not a part of the playing XI for the ongoing series opener in Faisalabad.

For his comments during the post-match presentation after India's win in the group stage against Pakistan, Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav was fined 30 per cent of his match fees, and handed two demerit points.

ICC's media release mentions the sanctions for the group stage game.

"Suryakumar Yadav (India) was found guilty of a breach of Article 2.21 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which relates to conduct that brings the game into disrepute. He was fined 30 per cent of his match fee and received two demerit points," the statement read. "S. Farhan (Pakistan) was found guilty of the same offence and was issued an official warning, receiving one demerit point. Haris Rauf (Pakistan) was also found guilty of the same offence and fined 30 per cent of his match fee, resulting in two demerit points."

During the Super 4 stage clash between India and Pakistan, pacer Arshdeep Singh was in the spotlight for allegedly making an obscene gesture. However, the ICC has cleared him of any wrongdoing, and there will be no sanctions imposed on him.

"Arshdeep Singh (India) was found not guilty of an alleged breach of Article 2.6, which pertains to using a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting, and therefore no sanction was imposed," match referee Andy Pycroft's ruling after a hearing read.

India pacer Jasprit Bumrah handed one demerit point by ICC for his actions in 2025 Asia Cup Final

Team India pacer Jasprit Bumrah accepted the charge levied against him by the ICC, which sees one demerit point being added to his disciplinary record.

"Jasprit Bumrah (India) accepted a charge under Article 2.21 for conduct that brings the game into disrepute and the proposed sanction of an official warning, which resulted in one demerit point. As he accepted the sanction, no formal hearing was required," the ICC statement mentioned.

The high-voltage drama did not end with the trilogy of matches, with the aftermath of the tournament still being a subject of intense debate. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are currently at loggerheads with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), since the Men in Blue are yet to avail the trophy after their seamless campaign.
