Gunther trolls WWE fans with three-word message after retiring John Cena

Gunther trolled the WWE Universe ahead of tonight's episode of RAW in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The former leader of Imperium battled John Cena in his retirement match at Saturday Night's Main Event over the weekend.

The Ring General forced Cena to tap out in his final WWE match at SNME, leaving a lot of fans in disbelief. The former champion reveled in their disappointment today on Instagram and shared a video of fans reacting to the end of Cena's career, with a three-word message attached as well.

"When reality hits….."

John Cena had a brief reign as Intercontinental Champion last month. He defeated Dirty Dom on the November 10 edition of RAW to become champion, but lost it back to The Judgment Day star at Survivor Series 2025. Liv Morgan returned at the PLE last month and helped Mysterio capture the Intercontinental Championship for the second time.

Gunther comments on getting a negative reaction from WWE fans

Gunther recently shared his thoughts on WWE fans giving him a negative reaction during his rivalry with John Cena.

In an interview with New York Post Sports, the veteran shared that he enjoyed antagonizing fans and thrived off their reactions. Gunther was escorted out of the arena by security after tapping out Cena at Saturday Night's Main Event.

"I’m not bothered. I went out on Raw on Monday to send a few words towards him as the only chance I had, and I could feel that energy from the audience, where it’s kind of like they don’t want me to stand there and claim that for me. But I enjoyed it. I think that’s great. That’s what I’m here for, to antagonize people, and if they are antagonized, which they seem to be, then I succeeded, and I thrive off that.”

Many fans in attendance at Saturday Night's Main Event were not happy with how John Cena's career came to an end and loudly booed Triple H as he came to the ring. It will be fascinating to see what WWE has planned for Gunther on RAW following his monumental victory.
