The Philadelphia Phillies have had a solid offseason to this point, agreeing to re-sign Kyle Schwarber who nearly turned in an MVP season last year to a five-year $150 million deal.
Additionally, the Phillies signed former Cardinals and Rangers outfielder Adolis Garcia to a one-year $10 million deal.
That said, the Phillies haven't been able to come to terms with Ranger Suarez, J.T. Realmuto and Harrison Bader, all of which were with Philadelphia last season.
Having made a new addition in the outfield, the Phillies may be unable to keep all three players. According to Todd Zolecki of MLB.com, Philadelphia may be decide to move on from Bader if they are able to re-sign Realmuto.
After being acquired midseason from the Minnesota Twins last year, Bader provided Rob Thomson with another weapon off the bench. Bader was mostly used as a defensive replacement in the outfield, a job he's more than capable of fulfilling. Known for his defensive prowess, Bader won a Gold Glove as a member of the Cardinals in 2021.
That said, Bader's bat was powerful last season as well. He finished the season with 17 home runs between the Twins and Phillies, a new career high.
If the Phillies were unable to re-sign Bader, Brandon Marsh would likely patrol center with Garcia playing in right field.
While Bader's offensive efficiency may be easy to replace, if Bader were to depart, Philadelphia would certainly miss having another lock down defender to use late in games.
