Gunther is what the younger generation likes to call a "ragebaiter", and he did exactly that on the final episode of RAW in 2025, angering fans with his merchandise that took a shot at John Cena.
For some context, Gunther has been public enemy #1 in the WWE Universe in the last few weeks, especially after defeating John Cena and making him tap out. He has bragged constantly about how he made Cena tap out like a "b***h", which, to everyone, was an insult to the most legendary career in WWE history. Even a couple of weeks ago, Adam Pearce had to send him out of the arena after being furious about how he treated John Cena and his legacy. This week on RAW, he had a backstage confrontation with the 53-year-old living legend R-Truth. While Truth admitted that the Austrian star is the best in the world right now, he wouldn't tolerate the disrespect that he was dishing out to John Cena. This set up their match on RAW.
Ahead of their match, Gunther came out in his robe, but as soon as he stood on the announcer's desk, which has been a habit of his lately, he removed his robe to reveal the t-shirt that showed him submitting John Cena and letting fans know that he tapped out like a "...." to let fans complete the sentence themselves. Safe to say, they weren't exactly happy about it.
As you would have expected, the match ended in a submission victory for The Ring General, who made R-Truth tap out despite a good effort on his side. Unfortunately for the WWE Universe, Gunther is just that good, and there are few in the entire wrestling world who are on top of their game like he is.
Despite not being a World Champion, it appears to be only a matter of time before he gets back into the World Title picture and reclaims the top prize.
