The Cleveland Guardians and Detroit Tigers are AL Central rivals, but a pair of their players are related, not in a way you'd first expect.
Daniel Schneemann and Gage Workman are brothers-in-law.
It was a story told on X on Wednesday by Schneemann's father, who has a very active presence on X (formerly Twitter).
They're each married to a Hancock sister, Papa Schneemann shared -- Allie and Lexie:
Cool side note on today's game...Tiger's 3rd baseman & Guard's 2nd baseman are Brother-in-Laws! Gage Workman and Daniel Schneemann are married to sisters - Allie & Lexie Hancock.
Moral of the story... Want to play in the MLB? Have a lot of talent & work hard! Or... just marry 1… pic.twitter.com/0RlecQ0Xby

Schneemann has turned himself into a reliable utility man in Cleveland.
Workman is just trying to break through at the major league level.
It surely hasn't been lost on them at family gatherings that they share a divisional rivalry, and it has to be a cool moment for all the sides of the family to see them all on the field together in one place.
Making the major leagues is hard even for the best players, and for guys like Schneemann and Workman, it takes even a bit more effort to overcome the doubters.
They've both made it, though, and they get to share their familial connection at the major league level.
