Heading into this year's NBA trade deadline, if you told fans that Jaren Jackson Jr. would be traded away and Ja Morant wouldn't, they'd probably be surprised.
Well, that's what happened: Jackson Jr. is with the Jazz after a trade earlier this week, and Morant remains in Memphis despite negotiations over the past few weeks.
Don't be fooled, though, because Morant's time in Memphis may still be coming to an end soon.
Will the Grizzlies still move on from Morant this offseason?
The Athletic reported Memphis is still aiming to trade Morant over the summer in the offseason.
Although it appeared that the Grizzlies didn't mind holding on to him, the Athletic stated, "Don’t view the Grizzlies’ non-action on him as a change in direction."

The Grizzlies tried to find a destination for Morant, but wanted somewhat of a quality return, even though they realized they had to come down from their original asking price.
They likely figured it wasn't worth trading Morant for the offers they were getting, and as the 11th seed in the West, there was no rush to make a move just to get one done before the deadline.
It's unclear if they'll get more value for Morant in the offseason, but once he returns from the injury that he's currently out with, there could be some hope from the Grizzlies side that Morant boosts his value heading into the summer, when they'll look at offers once again.
Morant has played in 20 games this season, averaging 19.5 points, 8.1 assists and 1.0 steals in 28.5 minutes.
