The Pittsburgh Steelers should have some continuity along the offensive line in 2026, as four of the team's five starters from last season are under contract.
The one starter who isn't under contract is veteran guard Isaac Seumalo, who is set to be a free agent this offseason.
Seumalo is a good player, no doubt, but he has had issues staying healthy during his career and has missed seven games the past two seasons. As a result, it's not crazy to think Pittsburgh could go in a different direction.
And that's exactly what Jarrett Bailey of Behind The Steel Curtain predicts will happen. He has the Steelers signing Buffalo Bills guard David Edwards in free agency, and projects a three-year, $59.7 million deal will get it done.
In order to replace Edwards, Bailey believes the Bills will turn around and sign Seumalo in free agency.
"I expect Edwards and Isaac Seumalo to basically switch spots, with Seumalo joining Pat Meyer in Buffalo and the Steelers opting to sign the younger Edwards as a veteran piece to their offensive line," Bailey wrote.
Edwards has been a starter for the Bills over the past two seasons and is coming off his best season as a starter after giving up three sacks and 27 pressures while posting Pro Football Focus grades of 73.0 in pass-blocking and 69.0 in run-blocking.
Those numbers are comparable to Seumalo's, and Edwards has been more available than the Steelers pending free agent, which makes him a strong replacement option should Pittsburgh not retain Seumalo.
The Bills will try to keep their 2025 starting offensive line intact, but restraints due to limited cap space could lead to them letting Edwards walk in free agency, especially if he commands as much as Bailey projects.
In that scenario, Seumalo could offer a cheaper option without any drop-off in performance, assuming he can stay healthy.
