John Cena officially walks away from WWE after his match with Gunther at Saturday Night's Main Event, and throughout the day, wrestlers from past and present have been paying tribute to the star.
Cena has been in the ring with some of the best wrestlers of the current and last generation, and one of his former opponents, Kofi Kingston, recently shared his thoughts on his WWE exit.
"The Last Time is Now…good riddance. 🫡 #ThankGod ForTheNewDay #snme" He wrote. While there are many stars who are open to breaking character to celebrate the emotional moment that's coming at Saturday Night's Main Event, it seems that The New Day refuse to drop the curtain.
John Cena has a number of enemies in WWE
While there are many WWE stars who have nothing but nice things to say about John Cena and the legacy he has paved in WWE, there are others who are of a different opinion.
The likes of Alex Riley and David Otunga appear to have different experiences with John Cena while they were part of WWE, and don't have the same emotional tribute to pay to the "Greatest of all Time" as he looks to walk away from the ring.
Cena has noted several times that he won't be another cliche, and when he finishes the match at Saturday Night's Main Event, he will be hanging up his boots for good.
While he won't be wrestling another match, he will make future appearances for WWE and remain part of the company since he recently announced that he has just signed a five-year ambassador's deal.
Cena has done a lot of work for WWE outside of the ring throughout the course of his career and this new deal allows him to continue that role without being an active talent.
