The Giants welcome the Vikings to East Rutherford for a Week 16 matchup between two NFC non-contenders.

While the playoffs aren’t in their future, Minnesota’s defense has been one of the best in football

The Vikings rank ninth in EPA/play (-0.05), ranking above average against both the pass and run.

With quarterbacks in and out of the lineup, the Vikings’ problem has come on the offensive end.

Carson Wentz got a shot at the starting job with J.J. McCarthy out, and the initial returns on the latter weren’t much better than the former.

Over the past two weeks, Vikings fans have gathered some hope for the second-year signal-caller.

With questions as to if Minnesota will even bring him back as the starter next season swirling, McCarthy and the Vikings offense has been surprisingly solid over their last two games, scoring 30-plus and gaining more than 300 yards of offense in each game.

I’m still not sold.

McCarthy (9) and wide receiver Jordan Addison celebrate after a touchdown by wide receiver Jalen Nailor during the second half against the Dallas Cowboys Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025, in Arlington, Texas. Those two games came against two of the worst defenses in football, the Cowboys and Commanders.

While the Giants’ defense isn’t much better, I’m looking at the totality of McCarthy and the Vikings’ season before I anoint them an offensive juggernaut.

Before these past two games, the Vikings went through a four-game stretch during which they failed to score more than 19 points in a game, including a shutout at the hands of the Seahawks.

Betting on the NFL?

Let’s not buy this Vikings offense just yet.

And let’s especially fade Big Blue’s attack against a scary Minnesota defense.

The play: Giants-Vikings Under 43.5 points (-110, FanDuel Sportsbook)
