Giants' Malik Nabers return could come at the perfect time for John Harbaugh

John Harbaugh and the New York Giants are gearing up for their first dance together. Harbaugh has a big responsibility with this team. He's trying to turn them from a 4-13 team into a championship group. That's a lot of pressure.

One thing that would help take the pressure off would be having the Giants' star wide receiver back. But, there's no guarantee that'll happen in time for this first week of the season.

There's some good news here, though. In a piece released on Tuesday, Alex Kay of Bleacher Report projects when injured standout players will at long last take the field with their respective NFL teams. Every time the preseason rolls around, there's always a question of which players will be healthy when the games really count, because they obviously don't count now.

Malik Nabers is trending toward a Week 1 return

Nabers is returning from a serious knee injury. The great news is that he's recently resumed full practice. Harbaugh says he's progressing well, but his Week 1 status against the Cowboys isn't confirmed yet. If healthy, Nabers is expected to play.

According to Kay, Nabers is trending toward a Week 1 return after making progress in his recovery and returning to team drills.

"New York's receiving corps has a good mix of solid veterans and promising young pieces, but none have the ceiling a healthy Nabers provides," Kay notes in the piece. "If he's medically cleared and able, Nabers will suit up and play against the Cowboys. He's far too important to Big Blue's 2026 chances to miss any time he's healthy enough to see."
