If the Steelers are going to win a Super Bowl anytime soon, this is the year to do it. They have their MVP-winning QB Aaron Rodgers back in the fold. They have a brand-new coach for the first time in many years in Mike McCarthy, formerly of the Dallas Cowboys.
The Steelers are in it to win it. But not everybody is a believer.
The Steelers are projected to win just 8.4 games this season. That just doesn't seem right. Mike DeFabo of The Athletic has his projection, and he believes the experts have this one too low. He thinks the Steelers will do better than this.
Steelers projected to win nine games in 2026
DeFabo simply thinks the Steelers' projected 8.4 wins are too low, especially considering the team's improved roster and long history of finding ways to win despite low expectations. He sees several key factors that will determine the team's season, including the development of its young offensive line, the performance of its defense and whether Rodgers can deliver in big moments.
"The roster is improved and so too should be the play callers (defensive coordinator Patrick Graham and head coach Mike McCarthy)," he notes.
In the end, DeFabo expects the Steelers to finish with around nine wins, so just a tiny bit more. But he's overall positive. Specifically, he said, "I'd put the over/under at 8.7, rounding up to a nine-win season."
Nine wins doesn't make a Super Bowl team, but don't count Rodgers out. It's his final year, and he'll likely make the most of it.
