The San Francisco Giants are trending towards the 2026 MLB trade deadline as obvious sellers, and it should be no surprise that any player who is set to hit the open market after the 2026 season is mentioned in trade rumors.
While Rafael Devers, Willy Adames, and Matt Chapman are names to monitor in the trade market, the more realistic names are Luis Arraez and the rental pitcher trade targets.
When it comes to $115 million, former Cy Young winning starting pitcher Robbie Ray, ESPN's Jesse Rogers revealed a worrying update for the Giants on Ray's trade value this summer with one comment from an NL scout.
NL scout diminishes Robbie Ray's trade value for Giants
"Their home stadium is still a pitcher's park," an NL scout told Rogers. "Look at some of their road splits. I'm not sure I would take anyone outside of Webb."
The Giants are likely to entertain offers on Tyler Mahle and Ray this summer, while Logan Webb is not someone likely to be on the move.
Ray has a 4.07 ERA this season, but there is one issue: the home and road splits don't bode well for Ray leaving the Giants and joining a new MLB team.
When pitching at home, Ray has a 3.55 ERA in seven starts with 35 strikeouts in 38 innings of work. On the road, his ERA is up to 4.54 across eight games (seven starts) with 39 strikeouts in 41.2 innings pitched.

If Ray joins a team with a hitter-friendly park, it's fair for that team to have a little concern about whether he will be able to pitch closer to his home splits with the Giants rather than his road splits this season.
This analysis from an NL scout is something that other teams around MLB likely know as well, and if it's playing a factor, then the Giants might have a tough time getting a solid offer for Ray this summer.
The former Cy Young-winning ace hasn't been as good this season as he's been in years prior. Ray should still fetch a return of some kind at the deadline, but it might not be as good as the Giants hope if this home-road split plays a big factor, like this NL scout believes it could.
