Giants' $12 million infielder predicted to be most 'in-demand' rental trade target

The San Francisco Giants are going through some major struggles this season, and if things don't get better anytime soon, they might be major sellers.

If such a future does come to pass, the Giants will have plenty of interested teams ready to make offers on some key players. Robbie Ray should garner plenty of interest, but there's a different player expected to receive a ton of attention.

Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report is predicting that the Giants will see their $12 million infielder, Luis Arraez, become the "most in-demand" trade target rental at this year's MLB trade deadline.

Giants' Luis Arraez predicted to be most in-demand trade target

"If that continues to be the case, Arraez just might be the most in-demand rental of them all this summer," Miller writes.

What Miller is referring to is the combination of offense and defense Arraez has showcased this season at second base.

Despite many questioning whether he'd be a successful second baseman, Arraez has proven all of those doubters wrong in a major way this season.

According to Baseball Savant's Outs Above Average, Arraez is tied for third place with nine OAA, behind only Bobby Witt Jr. and Pete Crow-Armstrong for the best defenders in baseball this season.

For someone not often referred to as a good defender, this is a very impressive feat for Arraez. But it's not just that he's an elite defensive second baseman; it's that he's hitting incredibly well at the same time, too.

Arraez has a .325 batting average with a .798 OPS this season with 2.1 bWAR in 53 games across 206 at-bats with 67 hits, 26 runs scored, 10 doubles, three triples, two homers, 20 RBIs, five stolen bases, 13 walks, and just nine strikeouts.

Miller is predicting Arraez will be the "most in-demand rental" at this year's trade deadline, and it's hard to believe that won't be the case for the $12 million infielder.

The Giants are likely open to trading him, and there's bound to be plenty of teams around MLB looking for someone just like Arraez in a trade. He might draw significant interest this year, so there might be a bidding war for Arraez at the 2026 deadline.
