Giannis Antetokounmpo, Peyton Watson among players the Lakers pursue in offseason

The Lakers were one of the quieter teams at this year's NBA trade deadline. Among many moves throughout the league, Los Angeles' lone move included a deal that sent Gabe Vincent and a second-round pick to the Atlanta Hawks for Luke Kennard.

Last year's deadline was far more eventful, but the Lakers are expected to make some big moves this upcoming offseason.

LeBron James, Rui Hachimura, and Jaxson Hayes will become free agents, while Austin Reaves, Deandre Ayton, and Marcus Smart all have player options for the 2025-26 season.

Report: Lakers expected to pursue Giannis Antetokounmpo among multiple other candidates this offseason

Los Angeles will have Luka Doncic for next season. Austin Reaves will have decisions to make, but the 27-year-old has shown his commitment to the organization in years past. Seeing him moving on is hard to fathom.

The Lakers are in line to have one of the largest amounts of cap space among contending teams this offseason, and The Athletic's Dan Wolke believes some splash moves are incoming.

"The summer presents an opportunity, armed with significant cap flexibility, to start building the necessary components of a modern front office and reap early benefits," the insider wrote.

He also mentioned that LA will be a team of many that pursue Giannis Antetokounmpo this offseason. The Denver Nuggets' Peyton Watson, Houston Rockets' Tari Eason, and Milwaukee Bucks' Cam Thomas were other possible options the Lakers will monitor moving forward.

There will be a lot of players the Lakers could pursue, and a lot of money to work with.
