Germany vs. Bosnia & Herzegovina lineups, predicted starting 11, confirmed team news: Wirtz ill, debut for Ortega?

2 hours ago 1

Germany can confirm their status as UEFA Nations League Group A3 winners when they face Bosnia & Herzegovina in Freiburg on Saturday.

Julian Nagelsmann's side are undefeated with 10 points from their four matches so far, including a 2-1 victory over these opponents in the previous international break. They have already secured themselves a place in the knockout phase.

Bosnia & Herzegovina have endured a torrid time in the top division and have a solitary point to their name. Sergej Barbarez's men could still put themselves in quarterfinal contention with wins over Germany and the Netherlands but they face the probable reality of relegation.

The Sporting News looks at the latest team news and predicted lineups for this Nations League showdown.

Germany vs. Bosnia & Herzegovina lineups, predicted starting 11, team news

Denis Undav scored both goals in Germany's recent win over Bosnia & Herzegovina but he misses out through injury this time around, while Stuttgart teammate Angelo Stiller has pulled out with a muscular problem.

Manchester City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega could make a debut in goal after receiving his maiden call-up at 32 years of age. Whether Ortega or Oliver Baumann get the nod, Nico Schlotterbeck will not be part of the backline protecting them as he serves a suspension.

Florian Wirtz will be assessed ahead of kickoff after suffering with a bout of illness.

Germany (4-2-3-1, right to left): Baumann (GK) —  Kimmich, Rudiger, Tah, Mittelstadt — Andrich, Pavlovic — Sane, Musiala, Gnabry — Havertz

Like Schlotterbeck, Bosnia defender Nikola Katic has collected too many yellow cards to be involved in this one, while the backline has been further compromised by Sead Kolasinac withdrawing through injury.

Nihad Mujakic and Tarik Muharemovic are options to bolster the defence, while evergreen striker Edin Dzeko is poised to lead the line and is in fine form with 11 goals in 19 games for Fenerbahce this term.

Bosnia & Herzegovina (3-5-2, right to left): Vasilj (GK) —  Mujakic, Bicakcic, Barisic — Gazibegovic, Tahirovic, Hajradinovic, Huseinbasic, Dedic — Dzeko, Demirovic
