Exercising all the time

The motivation to work out always seems strongest right up until it’s actually time to work out. All day, you’re convinced today is the day you’re going to crush it. Then the sneakers come out and suddenly a nap sounds like a much better use of your time. Cats would understand. Thinking about exercise requires plenty of energy on its own, so surely that counts for something. Maybe we’ll try again tomorrow. For now, the couch is calling, and it would be rude not to answer.

When you really think about it, driving all the way to the gym just to walk on a treadmill and repeatedly pick up the same weights only to put them right back down sounds pretty ridiculous. We could walk somewhere that actually goes somewhere and lift things that actually need moving, but where’s the fun in that? Cats would never fall for this nonsense. They’ll get their cardio from zoomies and their strength training from knocking everything off the counter, thank you very much.

Running for two minutes might as well be running a full marathon when you really don’t want to work out. Thirty seconds in, you’re checking the clock. One minute in, you’re questioning every decision that brought you here. By minute two, you’re ready for a medal, a snack, and several hours of recovery.
