The IPL 2026 auction took place in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, December 16. While more than 360-players were shortlisted for the mini-auction, seventy seven players ended up getting sold, with 29 of them being overseas cricketers. The 10 franchises spent a total of ₹215.45 crore at the auction.

On expected lines, Australian all-rounder Cameron Green was the biggest buy of the IPL 2026 auction. He was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for a whopping ₹25.20 crore. While Green now holds the record for being the costliest overseas player in IPL history, the 26-year-old will be paid ₹18 crore as per IPL's maximum fee rule in place for overseas cricketers.

Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana was also purchased by KKR for an impressive price of ₹18 crore. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) surprised many by shelling out ₹14.2 crore each for the uncapped Indian duo of Kartik Sharma and Prashant Veer. Also, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) bought England's batting all-rounder Liam Livingstone for ₹13 crore.
