Floyd Roger Myers Jr., who rose to fame for his role as a young Will Smith on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” has died.
He was 42.
The actor died of a heart attack at his home in Maryland early Wednesday morning, his mother, Renee Trice, confirmed to TMZ.
Trice, who last spoke to her son Tuesday night, revealed he had suffered three prior heart attacks in the last three years.
The actor’s sister, Tyree Trice, also announced the news via a GoFundMe page, revealing that his fatal heart attack was “unexpected” and “sudden.”
“He was a devoted father, loving brother, and friend whose kindness, laughter, and warmth touched everyone he met,” Tyree said of her older brother.
“Roger leaves behind his four beautiful children — Taelyn, Kinsley, Tyler, and Knox — and our loving family is now facing the unimaginable loss of someone who meant everything to us.”
Myers first stepped into the limelight with his role as a young Will Smith in “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” per his IMDb page.
He then moved on to play Marlon Jackson in “The Jacksons: An American Dream,” starring along legendary actors like Angela Bassett, Vanessa Williams and Billy Dee Williams.
His last acting credit was in 2000 when he appeared in “Young Americans,” which ran for only one season.
