Tyler Shough reveals wife’s no-nonsense reaction after Saints rookie won starting QB job

Tyler Shough’s wife offered a no-nonsense response when the rookie Saints quarterback learned he’d be making his first NFL start this week.

Speaking to reporters Wednesday, the second-round pick expanded on wife Jordan’s reaction to the news, revealing the “competitor” in her was out in full force.

“She’s been such a huge role in this, obviously up to this point, from every college, every step in the process to now, through the whole draft process, so it was a good feeling, but she’s also, she’s a competitor. She played soccer, she’s like, ‘Good, go out there and win,’ she’s not really satisfied, and neither am I. There’s nothing to be excited about, so it’s just another step, and we gotta go out there and win,” Shough said, according to NOF Network.

The 40th overall pick in this year’s NFL draft, the 26-year-old Shough saw playing time last week against Tampa Bay, relieving starter Spencer Rattler in the second half of an eventual 23-3 blowout loss.

He went 17 of 30 for 128 yards and one interception.

In the aftermath of New Orleans’ third straight loss that dropped the team to 1-7 on the season, the Saints announced Tuesday they were benching Rattler, the team’s fifth-round pick in 2024.

“Tyler went in there and looked the part,” first-year coach Kellen Moore said postgame Sunday.

“He made some plays. The one interception was unfortunate. Gave us a chance to convert there, and so we’ll obviously make that evaluation here quickly and make some decisions moving forward. But this had more to do with the whole offense just not playing well enough and hopefully trying to generate some form of a spark there.”
