Paris will be the focus of the tennis world for the next fortnight as the 2025 French Open, the second Grand Slam of the season, begins this Sunday.
For the first time since 2005, 'King of Clay' Rafael Nadal won't feature in Roland Garros. However, reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz will look to build on the legacy left by his fellow Spaniard, who has an unmatched record of 14 titles on Parisian clay.
Alcaraz returns to Roland Garros after securing his second ATP 1000 title in 2025, toppling rival Jannik Sinner in the Rome Masters final on Italian soil.
On the women's side, American fans will have high expectations for Coco Gauff, who has had an impressive run on European clay so far this year, reaching the finals at both Madrid and Rome.
Gauff, the 2022 French Open finalist, one of the favorites, alongside top seed Aryna Sabalenka, 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva and Qinwen Zheng.
Meanwhile, Iga Swiatek is chasing her fifth overall and fourth consecutive title at the French Open. Though the Pole hasn't quite struck form in the lengthy clay-court season, she might find a way to turn it around at her most successful Slam.
Two weeks of tennis action is set to begin at Roland Garros. The Sporting News is on hand to bring you all you need to know to ensure you don't miss a minute of the action, including details of how to live stream for free.
