"Fraud alert detected": NFL analyst obliterates Patrick Mahomes from GOAT conversation after Chiefs QB's ACL tear

Patrick Mahomes' Kansas City Chiefs suffered a 16-13 loss to the LA Chargers in Week 15 on Sunday, putting them out of playoff contention. To make matters worse, Chiefs quarterback Mahomes suffered a season-ending ACL injury in the fourth quarter.

Although this is the first time that the Chiefs won't make the playoffs with Mahomes, analyst Steve Kim has pointed out why the three-time Super Bowl-winning QB is not among the all-time greats.

"I think people were too quick to anoint Mahomes as an all-time great, or certainly among the Mount Rushmore, even with the Super Bowls ... I believe that he was in the top 10," Kim said on the "Fearless" podcast on Monday (1:16). "He was trending towards some great things. There was a time, probably around 2020 to 2022, maybe 2023, I felt that the Chiefs and Mahomes were must-see TV. But we have to be honest about this, the Kansas City Chiefs are tough to watch, and they're very frustrating the way they get every call, the way they sneak out games.

"Fraud alert detected, fraud alert recognized. Last year, they played an inordinate amount of one possession games, right? They were 11 and 1, something that was almost beyond the realm of proper odds. This year, it's flipped. So this decline really should not be a surprise to anybody, both individually and from a team perspective."

On Monday, the Chiefs confirmed that Patrick Mahomes underwent successful surgery to repair his torn ACL. However, the superstar QB will still have a long road to recovery.

The Chiefs have yet to release a timeline for Mahomes' return. However, there are some suggestions that the signal-caller might miss the start of next season as well.

In Mahomes' absence, Garnder Minshew will lead Kansas City's offense for the rest of the 2025 season.
