The New York Yankees managed to hold on to their top-rated prospects in the trade for left-hander Ryan Weathers from the Miami Marlins.
Four of the Yankees' highly regarded farmhands were named to Baseball America's top 100 prospects list for 2026. They are: shortstop George Lombard Jr. (No. 46), right-hander Elmer Rodriguez (No. 59), shortstop Dax Kilby (No. 61), and right-hander Carlos Lagrange (No. 93).
Lombard, 20, played 108 games in Double-A last season, hitting eight home runs with a .695 OPS. Kilby, 19, was a first-round draft choice in 2025 and had an .898 OPS and 16 steals in 18 games at Single-A Tampa.
Baseball America named Rodriguez the Yankees' Minor League Pitcher of the Year this past season, leading the farm system with 176 strikeouts. Lagrange can hit over 100 mph with his fastball, making him a possible Major League bullpen option in 2026.
Spencer Jones left off the top 100
Despite being the most ready of the five players to make an impact in the Majors, outfielder Spencer Jones did not appear on Baseball America's top 100 list.
There are legitimate concerns with Jones' swing and miss and strikeout rate against MLB arms. He hit 35 home runs between Double-A Somerset and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre but struck out 179 times in 506 plate appearances.
If Cody Bellingers signs elsewhere, Jones' chance of making the Yankees' Opening Day roster and splitting left field duties with Jasson Dominguez increases.
