Former West Ham coach gives his verdict on Chelsea potentially signing Mohammed Kudus

Chelsea are currently in the middle of a busy transfer window as they aim to strengthen their squad before they start their Club World Cup campaign next week.

Having signed Liam Delap from Ipswich Town, the Blues have now turned their attention to adding a wide player to their squad.

While Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens is heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus is another player who is rumoured to be moving to West London soon.

The Blues are reportedly keen on signing Kudus from West Ham and have even offered up to seven players in exchange for the Ghanaian star.

Now, former West Ham coach Edu Rubio has given his verdict on how Kudus will fit into Maresca’s system at Chelsea.

Rubio believes that Kudus is tailor-made for Maresca’s system and will flourish under him at Stamford Bridge.

What Rubio said about Kudus potentially playing under Maresca at Chelsea

Speaking to BBC Sport about the Ghanaian, Rubio said: “Kudus is a very versatile attacker like Chelsea duo Pedro Neto and Noni Madueke, as he can play down both flanks and come inside into the middle. He fits Blues manager Enzo Maresca’s 4-2-3-1 system as well as he is the type of winger he likes.”

“But he can also add an aggressive high-press style. His approach to close down the man on the ball is exceptional. He is rapid, intense and effective with it. Kudus can also add goals into the Chelsea squad. His work rate off the ball is very good too.”
