Former Seattle Seahawks defensive back Kelvin Joseph is in serious legal trouble.
According to the Richardson Police Department, Joseph was involved in a fatal car crash that took the life of 27-year-old motorcyclist Cody Morris of Plano, Texas, after 5 a.m. on Saturday morning.
Police say Joseph, who is currently playing in the UFL with the DC Defenders, was driving north in his BMW on U.S. Highway 75 when the fatal crash occurred.
After reporting the crash to police via phone call, Joseph was arrested and booked on a felony collision involving injury or death charge, as well as a misdemeanor charge of driving while intoxicated.
"At approximately 5:39 a.m., the Plano Police Department received a call from Kelvin Joseph Jr., a 25-year-old resident of Allen, who advised he had been involved in the crash," a statement from police read.
"Richardson Police Department officers contacted Joseph and determined he was northbound on North Central Expressway in a BMW sedan when he was involved in a collision with the motorcycle.
"While speaking with Joseph, officers observed signs of intoxication. Joseph was subsequently arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (Misdemeanor B) and Collision Involving Personal Injury or Death (2nd degree felony)."
A former fourth-round pick of the Dallas Cowboys in 2021, Joseph played in 33 games over four years in the NFL.
He appeared in 26 games (three starts) for the Cowboys over his first two years in the NFL before bouncing around and playing in contests with the Miami Dolphins and Seahawks (2023), and Indianapolis Colts (2024).
Joseph appeared in just one game for the Seahawks after initially signing to the team's practice squad. He also had a stint with the Minnesota Vikings' practice squad and spent an offseason with the Kansas City Chiefs.
In 2025, Joseph has appeared in nine games (seven starts) with the Defenders, who are set to play in the XFL Conference Championship Game on Sunday, June 8.
