Will Howard entered the 2024 college football season as a question mark for the Ohio State Buckeyes. By the end of the year, he was a fan favorite that will never be forgotten in Columbus following a magic national championship winning run. He was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL draft.
No one knows what the future has in store for Howard with the Steelers. However, he has the talent to make some noise and the potential to develop into a potential starter.
Already, Howard has been turning heads in Pittsburgh. He recently received a very strong message from top-tier head coach Mike Tomlin.
“He’s doing great,” Tomlin said. “But again, we’re at the very beginning of it. I don’t know that we’re looking at it through that lens in terms of evaluating him. It’s more about getting to know him.”
Being praised by Tomlin in any way should be viewed as a high complement. Howard has already put himself on his head coach's radar.
Moving forward, most questions surrounding the Steelers have to do with Aaron Rodgers. There still seems to be a good chance that Pittsburgh will figure out a deal with the future Hall of Famer. Howard would sit behind Rodgers for at least one season, while also getting the opportunity of a lifetime to learn from one of the best quarterbacks to ever throw a football.

Throughout the course of his lone season with Ohio State, Howard put together big-time numbers. He completed 73.1 percent of his pass attempts for 4,010 yards, 35 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He also picked up 226 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground.
Only time will tell what Howard can accomplish in the future, but he is in a great situation with a team that he wanted to draft him.
Hopefully, the Buckeyes' fan favorite will be able to keep developing his game and become a starter down the road. Pittsburgh certainly thinks he has the talent to make that kind of a jump.
