Lions schedule 2025: Release dates and times, list of opponents, strength of schedule

We've known who the Detroit Lions' 2025 opponents are going to be for quite some time now, but this week we'll finally get the exact schedule with dates and times for each game.

What we do know thus far is that the Lions won't be playing in the regular-season opener like they did last year. Instead, it'll be the Dallas Cowboys playing the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field on Thursday, Sept. 4.

Over the course of the next few days, the league will slowly reveal some of the games for this coming season, with the full schedule release set to take place on Wednesday.

We'll also likely get plenty of schedule leaks from different sources on social media, although be aware that those aren't always accurate.

Here's all the information you need to keep tabs on the Lions' 2025 schedule release.

Lions 2025 schedule release date

Full release: Wednesday, May 14 at 8 p.m. ET (NFL Network, ESPN)

The NFL and its partners will also be revealing select games from Monday through Wednesday. Here's a look at that schedule, per the league:

• Monday, May 12: NBC (live on the TODAY Show), FOX, Prime Video

• Tuesday, May 13: ESPN (live during Good Morning America)

• Wednesday, May 14: CBS (live on CBS Mornings), Netflix

Lions 2025 opponents

Once the Lions' 2024 regular season ended, their 2025 opponents were set in stone. Here's the list:

Home games: Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Road games: Bears, Packers, Vikings, Washington Commanders, Philadelphia Eagles, Cincinnati Bengals, Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams

Lions 2025 strength of schedule

After finishing atop the NFC North in 2024, the Lions are playing a first-place slate in 2025.

According to Warren Sharp of Sharp Football Analysis, who uses projected win totals from Vegas oddsmakers to calculate strength of schedule, which is the best method, the Lions sport the third-toughest slate in the NFL, and the second-toughest in the NFC behind only the New York Giants.
