A former New York Knicks fan favorite will be heard on MSG broadcasts in the near future, as Steve Novak has signed on to be an analyst on the network, per Stefan Bondy of the New York Post.
Novak will serve as current analyst Clyde Frazier’s backup for MSG broadcasts of Knicks games. At 80 years old, Frazier has already slowed down his rate of broadcasting the team’s road games, though he has no plans to retire or stop doing the team’s home games at Madison Square Garden.
Novak played 11 seasons in the NBA and for nine different teams, most notably with the Knicks from 2011-2013. He shot 44.5 percent from three-point range during his time with the Knicks, exhilarating fans with his shooting prowess.
As a broadcaster, Novak served as an analyst on FanDuel Sports Network from 2017 to 2025.
“I played for nine NBA teams and can honestly say that the two years I played for the Knicks in New York were two of my most memorable seasons in the league,” Novak said in a statement. “To have this opportunity to fill in for the legend Walt ‘Clyde’ Frazier on select games is remarkable. I can’t wait to talk Knicks basketball with the great hoop fans in New York.”
Novak’s first game will come Friday when the Knicks take on the Chicago Bulls on the road.
