An AEW star will likely leave the Jacksonville-based promotion in the next few months. Danhausen has been one of the most beloved personalities in the pro wrestling business, and fans have shown him support despite his absence from TV. He wasn't seen in the company for almost two years, nor was he involved in any creative plans.

The Very Nice Very Evil's contract was supposed to expire a few months ago. However, instead of letting him go, Tony Khan decided to add injury time to his deal. His last appearance in the company took place at ROH's Final Battle event in December 2024. Danhausen's recent update might make his fans happy.

According to Fightful, the Kid Curious' deal might expire in February 2026, and AEW will not be able to add any type of extensions to it this time. It is also reported that he wasn't seen backstage for many months and wasn't brought up for any creative plans.

Dutch Mantell believes AEW's Danhausen should join WWE

The 35-year-old star was rumoured to join WWE before additional time was added to his deal a few months ago. He is good friends with CM Punk in real-life, and many believe that could lead to him joining the global sports entertainment juggernaut.

While speaking on Story Time with Dutch Mantell, the veteran claimed that Danhausen would be well utilised in WWE.

"Danhausen, they would have to change his name, I guess, you know, and they could do a lot with him. [Host: 'What would you change it to?'] Well, I don't know unless they could use something like that. They could come up with something; it's not the name, it's the character, and I've always liked the character. So, where did he get that character? He just came up with it? It's a good one. So, I'd like to see him in WWE. He's tailor-made for them anyway," Mantell said.

It will be interesting to see what is next for the AEW star after he reportedly becomes a free agent in February 2026.
