Finn Balor is in a celebratory mood, just like the rest of the world, as Christmas Day has now come and gone. He posted a photo showing an interesting new direction for The Demon.
As some of you know, it has been a few years now that Balor hasn't brought the Demon back. To be more precise, it has been two years and eight months. He seems to be happy with it that way, but knowing WWE, The Demon is too good of a merchandise opportunity to pass up on, and as a result, he has toys like dolls of The Demon.
In a hilarious Instagram video, Finn Balor showed The Demon with a Guiness Beer, and on Twitter/X, he posted a photo of The Demon King in a traditional Christian origin photo.
What happened when Finn Balor last brought out The Demon persona?
The last time Finn Balor donned his demon paint, it ended in defeat. In fact, even the instance before that saw him lose in his Demon persona, but in even weirder circumstances.
In the 2020s, Finn Balor has admitted that he feels that using The Demon was a bit of a crutch for him, and he has seemingly avoided going in that direction, especially during his return run in NXT. When he reappeared on the main roster, seemingly at Vince McMahon's request, The Demon persona was brought back for a match against Roman Reigns in a Premium Live Event main event, but it ended disastrously. A weird rope break spot was what led to his defeat, and it was quite deflating.
However, a year-and-a-half or so later, he had the opportunity to wear it again as he faced Edge in a Hell in a Cell match at WrestleMania 39. While to many, it was an obvious one for Finn Balor to win, The Rated-R Superstar picked up the victory instead, leaving many deflated and disappointed. It's probably no surprise, then, that Balor hasn't brought back The Demon persona at all and hasn't even made much of an effort to tease it.
It seems quite clear that he has a specific role within The Judgment Day, and he seems happy to fulfill that while WWE seems happy to give him contract extensions. He has been a reliable superstar, but there is no denying that WWE never utilized him to what many believe could have been his fullest potential.
It ultimately comes down to what one would view as a successful career, and from a certain point of view, there is no doubt that Balor has had a far more successful career than most who step into the wrestling business.
